Is it so much the mentality that causes this or the lack of proper education in calculating and realizing what the carrying costs are? Sometimes the carrying costs are “hidden” meaning not quite obvious since it is hard to tag a hard cost to each item (shelving space, management cost etc). It sometimes is more of an allocation so the concept of the carrying costs may not be obvious.
